Matt Bevans remains at Oxford United

Oxford United are pleased to announce that right-back Matt Bevans will remain with the U's for a further year after the club activated a clause in his contract.

Right-back Bevans joined United in July last year from Watford to play in the development squad. He made his professional debut on 5th December in Oxford's 1-0 FA Cup first round win at Gateshead. His league debut came on 28th January when he came on as a substitute at Exetern City, and Bevans made his first league start for the club in a 2-1 win over Wimbledon on 1st February. In total, he made 11 starts and one sub appearance last season.

Bevans told the website: "I'm delighted to be staying at Oxford for another year. It's a great set up here and I feel that I've really progressed as a player. Now I want to kick on and try to make even more first team appearances although I know I've still got a lot to learn."

United's head coach Gary Waddock said: "We're very pleased to keep Matt on. He's progressed really well in his first year here and is one for the future."
